2013 Varsity Girls Soccer Team

Girls’ Soccer 2013 Review

The girls’ soccer team finished its season with six wins, six losses and five draws.  Included in the 17-game schedule were five games against teams ranked in the top 20.  The squad earned a win and two draws in those five games, highlighted by a 1-1 home draw versus fifth-ranked Guerin Catholic.  The team’s season came to an end in a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Perry Meridian in the sectional final.  Senior goalkeeper Jessica Young was named the team’s MVP, while senior midfielder Carlie Dick earned the team’s Mental Attitude Award.  Both Jessica Young and senior midfielder Taylor Wong were named All-District by the ISCA (Indiana Soccer Coaches Association) and selected to play in the statewide Soccer Showcase in late November.  A host of players earned Academic All-State honors.  Young, fellow seniors Carlie Dick, Morgan Barrett, Nina Perr, Ashley Kedra, Megan Bowman and Grace DeMoss, were all chosen to the ICGSA (Indiana Coaches of Girl’s Sports Association) honorable mention Academic All-State team.  Barrett, DeMoss, Young, Dick, along with juniors Alex Kelley, Sophia Miller, Gretchen Perry, Mary Brockman and Jessica Rikke were all named to the ISCA’s Academic All-State team.
