2014-2015 Boys Swimming and Diving Team

Boys’ Swimming and Diving 2015-16 Review

The boys’ swimming and diving team posted an 11-1 regular season record, finished third in the Marion County meet, finished fifth in the sectional and sent a relay team to the state finals – all with only 10 swimmers on the roster.

The third-place finish at the Marion County meet was highlighted by senior Adam Pongracz capturing the county title in the 100 butterfly. Pongracz teamed with senior Eddie Huck, junior Nick Carpenter and sophomore Jack Bauer to win the county 200 medley relay title. The quartet set a new school record in the event (1:38.36) and advanced all the way to the state finals, where they finished 25th. Additionally, coach Ed Merkling was named Marion County Coach of the Year.

Pongracz and Huck were named team co-MVPs. Freshman Blake Ludge earned the team’s most improved award. Pongracz broke the program record for average points scored per meet with 28.15. Both Huck (27.65) and Bauer (26.65) also topped the previous mark of 25.93.
