2013 Boys Tennis Team

2013 Season Review

Under first-year head coach Mark Claeys, the boys’ tennis team finished with an 8-13 record.  The team, which played one of the more difficult schedules in the state, graduated five of the seven varsity players from last season.  Four of the teams that defeated the Rebels were ranked in the state’s top 10 and six were ranked in the top 20.  Senior Jack Glander earned team Most Valuable Player honors, while sophomore Michael Sailing won the team’s Mental Attitude award.  Seniors Thomas Myers and Drew Conner provided leadership and experience to a young team.  The Rebels compiled seven 5-0 wins, including victories over local rivals Southport and Beech Grove.  Coach Claeys identified the team’s focus and improvement around the mental part of the game as one of the season’s most significant developments.
