2013 Season Preview

The 2013 Track and Field team looks to be one of the most balanced teams Roncalli has fielded in the past several years.  This is due largely in part to a solid group of sophomores that scored at the Marion County Freshman Championships in every discipline last season: jumps, throws, sprints, hurdles and distance. Although young, this group of sophomores returns with plenty of varsity experience.  (Ryan Hume, Nat Otley, Eric Townsend, Connor James, Bryan Doerr, Nathan Schoettle and Mitch Kraeszig) Complimenting this youth movement will be a handful of “big hitters” that includes defending Indianapolis Archdiocesan 1600m champ and Regional qualifier James Perry in the middle distances, Archdiocesan and All Catholic high jump runner-up Michael Scifres and shot putter Cal Scifres. Additionally, big things are expected from Junior hurdler Nick Farrar, senior 400m runners Jack Hosty and David Hughett as well as distance runners Daniel Buergler, Walter Dearing, Joey Ray, Austin O’Gara and Andy Bauer.
